Manchester City : Dowd, Book, Pardoe, Doyle, Booth, Oakes, Summerbee, Bell, Lee, Young, Coleman

Leicester City : Shilton, Rodrigues, Nish, Roberts, Woollett, Cross, Fern Gibson, Lochhead, Clarke, Glover (Manley).

The 1969 FA Cup final was a very open and attacking style of football, both sides missed chances and both teams took the occasional risk.

Leicester City were appearing in their third final of the sixties, previous ones being 1961 (Lost) and 1963 (Lost).

One of the earlier chances fell to Allan Clarke of Leicester as he fired in a shot from the 18 yard line towards the top corner only for the Manchester City goalkeeper Harry Dowd to tip it over.

The only goal of the game came in the 24th minute when Mike Summerbee crossed the ball to Neil Young who shot the ball past Peter Shilton in the Leicester goal. Both sides continued to play their attacking style of football but unfortunately no other goals were scored.
