This classic final is best remembered for one of the greatest comeback’s in a FA Cup Final.

The game began with Sheffield Wednesday scoring with just 4 minutes on the clock and they continued to dictate the pace of the game of the first half, Everton did have a goal disallowed for offside.

In a pulsating start to the second half and with a solitary goal splitting the two sides, with Everton looking to equalise and Wednesday hoping to increase their lead.

It was Sheffield Wednesday who scored first with a goal in the 57th minute.Though down but not out, Everton side went into overdrive and piled on the pressure, looking for a way back into the match, they never waited long when in the 59th minutes Mike Trebilcock scored Everton’s first and within five minutes of that goal he scored again to tie up the match.

Everton fans were ecstatic including one Everton fan running onto the pitch and he was pursued across the pitch by a policeman, who stopped him with a neat rugby tackle,more suited to Twickenham then Wembley. The incident did not deter Everton who kept pressing forward and this paid off when in the 74th minute Derek Temple scored what turned out to be the cup winning goal.
