The only time since 1937 up to the present day that the FA Cup Final was not televised live on the BBC as the Football Association refused permission.

This was a repeat of the 1932 FA Cup Final where Newcastle were the 2-1 victors on that day. Luck was against Arsenal for this final with several of the Arsenal first teamers returning from injury with many still recovering.

Wally Barnes went off injured in the 30th minute of the first half, and unlike today substitutes were not allowed so Arsenal were forced to play with just 10 men, but still the 10 man arsenal side kept Newcastle at bay and it wasn’t until the 81st minute that Newcastle score the only goal of the game.

Arsenal during the game had further injuries and by the final whistle only had seven fit players on the pitch.
