It took 18 minutes for Arsenal to score their 1st goal against Liverpool in front of 100,000 spectators that attended the 1950 FA Cup Final. Liverpool tried desperately to get on level terms again, but the Arsenal defence were steadfast and at half-time were still leading.

The second half started with Liverpool pressing forward and it was on one of these attacks that Arsenal produced a quick counter attack and Reg Lewis got his and Arsenal second goal of the game. The Arsenal defence worked hard to keep a clean sheet which they did and help Arsenal equalise Bolton’s record of 3 FA Cup wins.

Bob Paisley who became one of the Liverpool legends scored the winning goal against arch-rivals Everton in the semi-final but was dropped for this final.
