With Arsenal team full of Internationals against second division Sheffield United, many pundits thought this would be a walkover for Arsenal, but Sheffield United made them fight all the way.

Most of the pressure in the first part of the game came from Sheffield United who had 5 players up front, but the Arsenal defence stood firm and blocked all the Sheffield’s attempts, the same can be said about the Sheffield United’s defence that stood resolutely for 75 minutes in stopping the star studded Arsenal side.

The only goal of the game came at a point when the crowd had started to silence, the ball was passed squarely from Bastin to Drake to slot home the only goal of the match. Sheffield United were unlucky not to gain a equaliser moments later as the ball hit the woodwork.
