It only took 2 minutes for the 93,000 crowd to see a goal when Sheffield Wednesday when Jack Palethorpe hit a right foot shot into the corner of the goal, it took19 minutes for WBA to equalise when 22 year old Wally Boyes, the youngest player on the pitch and from Sheffield scored for Wednesday.

Hooper for Sheffield made it 2-1 only for another West Brom equaliser just moments later, with 5 minutes left Rimmer who had scored in every round ,got onto the scoresheet in the final with a header and another from Rimmer sealed it for Sheffield Wednesday.
