FA Cup Final – Football Programmes

Possibly the number One knock-out competition throughout the world for football clubs, it attracts the highest attendance for a domestic match in the UK and is one of the top for attendances throughout the world in the world of sport, the Super Bowl in 2011 had an attendance of 103,219, 2nd spot was Australian Rules Football, with AFL cup attracting 100,016 spectators in 2010, while the 2010 FA Cup Final was 88,335.

From 1923 up to 2000, the final was held at Wembley Stadium, English football’s national stadium. Wembley Stadium was then reconstructed so from 2001–2006, the final was moved outside of England, to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff,Wales. It returned to the New Wembley in 2007.

Since 1923 there has been 6 replays for a FA Cup Final, but in 1993 it was decided that the results would be decided on the day of the final, so if the scores were level after 90 minutes there would be 30 minutes of extra time and if the scores were still level then a penalty shoot-out would take place, up to 2010 only two FA Cup Finals have resulted in a penalty shoot-out (2005 and 2006).
